Greetings from Covenant College
After a wonderful Orientation week, we are off to a great start to the semester. Classes have moved into the second week, fall sports teams have started their seasons, and we have heard from President Halvorson, Chaplain Messner, and others in chapel. We praise the Lord for this great new class of students and look forward to His continuing work in their lives here at Covenant. We appreciate your prayers as we strive to minister to them.
To parents of new students:
Thank you for your evaluations of Orientation. Your responses will be reviewed and used in planning for next year’s Orientation. If you have not done so, please feel free to e-mail any suggestions for improving the experience for next year’s new families. We will be collecting evaluations from the students in the days ahead. Last year’s responses from students and parents were very helpful in making changes for this year.
This email is the first of many you will receive this year in an effort to connect you more closely to the programs and people at Covenant. Hopefully these emails will help you know more about the ways we try to serve your sons and daughters thereby enabling you to reinforce to them the opportunities they can take advantage of to get involved, seek help, etc. If you have a concern you would like to share or a question you need answered, do not hesitate to contact us at studentdevelopment@covenant.edu.
Thanks again for entrusting your child to us. By the way, we thought you might appreciate having a picture of the class of 2016.
Sincerely,
Brad Voyles
VP for Student Development and Dean of Students
Covenant Parent Testimony
Throughout the process of raising our children, God has shown us the importance of standing for the truth and following after the Savior: both prerequisites for providing an excellent education for our children. We have been blessed by Covenant College’s faculty and staff because they earnestly strive to build a community that fosters lifelong learners of the truths of John14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life...."
The faculty at Covenant have played a huge role in continuing the education of our children. Not only do they provide excellent teaching, but they also willingly invest in students’ personal lives by offering encouragement and counseling outside of the classroom. The guidance both of our children have received from faculty members has enhanced the pursuits of their individual callings.
We as parents appreciated how welcoming Covenant was to not only our children, but our entire family. From the first moment of freshman orientation the staff did everything they could to welcome us and make our children feel at home. They cheered for us as we moved our son in, they carried all of our bags, and they set aside time for parents to pray together as we all prepared for that first heart-wrenching departure from our kids on top of Lookout Mountain. When our daughter transferred into Covenant mid-year, President Nielson visited each new family to welcome us to Covenant. That gesture was such a personal encouragement and made us feel a part of the Covenant College community, as we left her also.
Although we must sometimes make sacrifices for our children, we firmly believe that their time at Covenant is worth it. We are thankful for Covenant and continue to pray that God will advance His kingdom as the College continues its faithful stand for teaching true Truth.

Parents Prayer Network
We are so blessed by the support and prayers we receive from other parents, and Bob and Kelly Stevens have graciously offered to continue organizing and facilitating a parents' prayer network. If you would like to be a part of this group, please email
Parents Prayer Network. They will form a contact list of all interested parents. If parents have specific requests or needs to share, you may send your prayer requests to them by the 15th of every month. They will compile all the requests and send out a prayer list by the 5th of the next month to the entire contact list. We know there are going to be parents who will want to receive the prayer list every month even if they do not send in specific requests, and we appreciate all your prayers. If you would like to assist Bob and Kelly with this endeavor, please contact them as I know they wholeheartedly welcome your ideas and suggestions.
Thank you for the privilege of partnering with you as we seek to serve you and your students. Please continue to let us know how we can assist you, and remember to check out the various resources we have available for parents.
