Covenant College Class of 2015

Greetings from Covenant College

After a wonderful Orientation week, we are off to a great start to the semester. Classes have moved into the second week, fall sports teams have started their seasons, and we have heard from President Nielson, Chaplain Messner, and others in chapel. We praise the Lord for this great new class of students and look forward to His continuing work in their lives here at Covenant. We appreciate your prayers as we strive to minister to them.

To parents of new students:

Thank you for your evaluations of Orientation. Your responses will be collated and used in planning for next year’s Orientation. If you have not done so, please feel free to e-mail any suggestions for improving the experience for next year’s new families. We will be collecting evaluations from the students in the days ahead. Last year’s responses from students and parents were very helpful in making changes for this year.

This email is the first of many you will receive this year in an effort to connect you more closely to the programs and people at Covenant. Hopefully these emails will help you know more about the ways we try to serve your sons and daughters thereby enabling you to reinforce to them the opportunities they can take advantage of to get involved, seek help, etc. If you have a concern you would like to share or a question you need answered, do not hesitate to contact us at studentdevelopment@covenant.edu.

Thanks again for entrusting your child to us. By the way, we thought you might appreciate having a picture of the class of 2015.

Sincerely,
Brad Voyles
VP for Student Development and Dean of Students

Parents Prayer Network

We are so blessed by the support and prayers we receive from other parents, and one Covenant mother has graciously offered to continue organizing and facilitating a parents' prayer network. If you would like to be a part of this group, please email Mari Paffenroth . Mari will form a "Parents Prayer Contact List" of all interested parents. If parents have specific requests or needs to share, you may send your prayer requests to Mari by the 15th of every month. She will compile all the requests and send out a prayer list by the 5th of the next month to the entire contact list. We know there are going to be parents who will want to receive the prayer list every month even if they do not send in specific requests, and we appreciate all your prayers. If you would like to assist Mari with this endeavor, please contact her as I know she wholeheartedly welcomes your ideas and suggestions.

Thank you for the privilege of partnering with you as we seek to serve you and your students. Please continue to let us know how we can assist you, and remember to check out the various resources we have available for parents.

Julie Moore
Associate Dean of Students, Student Life

Testimony from Covenant Parents

Like most parents, we take the education of our children seriously. Our goal for their education is to see them mature and grow in knowledge, to seek God and His calling in their lives, and to use the gifts and talents that He has given them, serving others for Christ’s sake. It didn’t take us long to realize that Covenant College was unique among colleges, even Christian colleges, in that it reflected the same biblical worldview that we desired to instill in our oldest son as he began his college career.

We have found Covenant College to be unique in the quality of education that it offers. Not only does Covenant offer a rigorous liberal arts program, but Covenant has instilled in our son a formidable theological worldview that will enable him to navigate the murky and sometimes tumultuous waters of our post-modern world.

We have found Covenant College to be uncommon in the quality of relationships that are formed, not only between the students, but between the students and the faculty at Covenant. It is evident that the professors at Covenant College are interested in the student’s spiritual as well as intellectual well-being. The mentoring that takes place between student and teacher is deliberate and intentional, part of a well-developed, fully-orbed Christian worldview.

We have found Covenant College to be unusual in its desire to be an institution that is firmly grounded in biblical truth. In a day like ours today, where most Christian colleges are known as such only by name or by their history, Covenant College is one of the few colleges that desires to see that those Christian foundations are driven deep, so that it will continue to stand the test of time and continue to offer a discerning Christian education to students for generations to come.

As a result we continue to be blessed and encouraged by the opportunities that Covenant College has to offer our son on a daily basis: opportunities for work, leadership, and service in the surrounding community. There is no doubt in our minds that Covenant was the right choice for our family, and we thank God for His provision of such an institution in a time such as ours.
